Chaos Dungeon

Chaos Dungeon will unlock after Abyssal Maze. It requires 350,000 trophies and 7,500 gear score. There is a big jump in difficulty as all of the damage reduction you accumulated for Abyssal Maze in your defensive gear is mostly useless in Chaos Dungeon. Also, it can be difficult to have enough pieces of gear to keep both an Abyssal and Chaos set prepared. You'll either need to collect enough pieces to build a second set of armor pieces or constantly be swapping around Power Stones. Chaos Dungeon is playable both solo and duo and the modifiers change a bit depending on the mode.

Chaos Dungeon has five levels to beat and there is a lot of randomness involved. Each stage will be one of the previous dungeons you've played with some modifications. There will be Dragon, Kraken, Yeti, Maze, and Abyssal Maze. The health and damage of all creatures in Dragon's Dungeon are boosted over 10,000% and the Dragon's fire does a lot of damage. On Kraken's Ship you will start on the ship and only 4 creatures will spawn here which makes it difficult to get experience and level up. Yeti, Maze, and Abyssal Maze are all similar to their original dungeon in the way they are played but there are several modifiers that can change the difficulty.

Chaos Dungeon can be a great source of Dungeon Gems and Power Stones. You will get Dragon, Kraken, Yeti, and Maze gems depending on which levels you beat and when you beat them. For example, if you beat Kraken Dungeon at level 1 you would receive fewer gems than if you were to beat it at level 5. Also, if you don't manage you beat Yeti Dungeon for example you won't receive any Yeti gems in your rewards. Also, if you manage to make it to level 4 or 5 you have a chance to get level 4 Power Stones in your rewards. There is a low chance to receive these on level 4 and a high chance on level 5.

Level Solo Gems Coop Gems

2 44 66
3 99 165
4 220 385

If you are playing solo you can life leech off of creatures and the boss on levels 1, 3, and 5. On levels 2 and 4 there will be no life leech from creatures but you can life leech and heal on the boss. Also, any Regen or Life Steal abilities you have will still work. In coop mode floors 2 and 4 are No Heal so even the Hunter abilities will not work. There is a faster respawn time of five seconds in this dungeon in solo mode which will allow you to respawn and keep your poison stacks on the boss as long as it is close enough to spawn. This makes it a viable strategy to lure the boss back to the starting room in Maze or Abyssal Maze and if you die you will instantly begin attacking again and keep your stacks. This doesn't work on Yeti or Dragon because it is too far away. In coop the respawn time is normal so you will have to work with your partner to keep stacks up if you do die.

I will cover some strategies for both solo and coop. One thing to note is that if you are playing solo the most common strategy is to start with the Maze or Abyssal Maze Dungeon and use Engineer. I prefer to start with Abyssal Maze myself. When you begin to start a run of Chaos Dungeon solo it will prompt you to show your Hunter selections and let you know which Dungeon you are about to play. You can restart this several times until you get Abyssal Maze or whichever floor you want to start with. If you are playing coop it is random right from the first Level of the Dungeon except for your chosen Hunter. For each level you will have a random pool of six Hunters to choose from. It is possible to reroll this list of Hunters once per run if you don't get any good picks. Since this Dungeon is so difficult and the choices so random you will have to have many Hunters awakened to have a good chance of having decent picks for each Level.

There are a few types of Hunters that are good in this mode. Either stacking Hunters, high damage Hunters, or some Hunter abilities like Terror and Weakness. For stacking Hunters, Hunters like Ancient One, Phantom, Plague Doctor, Goblin Engineer, etc can be good. These allow you to get enough stacks on the boss to do enough damage to them to win. Other high damage Hunters can get away with fewer stacks but their damage makes up for it. Hunters in this category are Anubis and Hoplite. Any Hunter with Terror is great in this dungeon. Current examples are Torment and Abyssorb. They are typically a guaranteed win if you know what you are doing. Hunters with Weakness like Void Knight can be very good for bosses but can be more difficult to farm with as the Monsters are often immune to Weakness. Another great Hunter for this mode is awakened Leprechaun. His experience scales so much that you can get very high levels to do enough damage to defeat the boss quite easily. Reflecting does not work as well in Chaos Dungeon either. Sometimes you can successfully make use of Mutant Turtle but even then it can be difficult. You are better off avoiding any reflection if possible.

I will give a few tips for each Dungeon now. One thing to balance is getting enough experience and levels but also leaving enough time to get on the boss and kill it. Dragon's Dungeon is fairly easy to farm. You can get level 20 easily in solo though experience is slower in coop. When fighting the boss I usually stand on the right side of the screen and stack. When the boss gets ready to use its fire attack you can either retreat out of the range or if you are strong enough run through it to the opposite side and continue stacking. You will most likely have to hit the boss at least once during its fire breath to keep your stacks active. If you pick up enough Distance abilities you can actually stand outside the range of the fire breath and continue to attack the whole time.

The Kraken Dungeon can be very hard to get levels as the creatures are strong and there isn't much room to run. Depending on the Hunter you may be able to spawn and die a few times and get away with only gaining a few levels and going right on the boss. For most Hunters you will have to get to at least level 10+ by the end of the fight. As you gain enough levels to kill these Monsters easily you should focus on stacking on the boss. Then go off the boss and kill the monsters as they respawn then get back on the boss before losing your stacks. This allows you to continue gaining stacks while increasing your level. If you have enough levels and don't want to deal with the monsters it is possible to lure them to the right side of the boat and let them kill you. Then when you respawn they will be out of range and won't attack you letting you focus on the boss.

Yeti can also be a hard Dungeon to get enough levels and still have enough time to complete the boss. Depending on your Hunter you may have to change your strategy but I try to run the entire loop and pull the entire spawn then finish it at the starting point. Then I will typically do one more loop or even a half or three quarter loop and pull those creatures in with the Yeti boss. I will finish off the monsters as I begin stacking on the boss. Hopefully you will have enough levels and damage at this point to out heal the damage dealt to you.

As I mentioned earlier Maze is typically the first Dungeon a lot of people will do if they are running solo. You should be able to run around and pull all the monsters to kill at once. If the first creature you run into is a Reaper you can stand directly underneath it to take less damage to help you get started with your leveling. If you are struggling to stay alive make sure to bring the boss to the starting room to help you keep your stacks. This boss isn't too bad damage wise except for when it does its "Unleash Souls" attack. This will deal a significant amount of damage. Also, this boss can by difficult to kill if you get it on a later Level as it has the heal ability. It already has a high health pool being later in the run and if you are struggling with damage the boss healing up can absolutely ruin your run. It can be possible to find Hearts in the Maze which can be helpful to heal up if you are on a no heal floor.

Finally, the Abyssal Maze. Similar to the Maze level or regular Abyssal Maze you should just pull as many creatures as you can and kill them at once to gain the most experience. If the first creature you run into is an Abyssal Reaper you can stand directly underneath it to take less damage to help you get started with your leveling. You may want to continue to lure the boss around as you are getting additional kills to get a few more levels. The Abyssal Emperor deals a lot of damage so it can be difficult to survive. If you have a stacking Hunter you will most likely have to run the boss back and forth in the starting room. You'll want to keep it here if it does kill you so you can keep your stacks active. It can be possible to find Hearts in the Abyssal Maze which can be helpful to heal up if you are on a no heal floor.

Chaos Dungeon Gear Guide

As I mentioned previously none of the armor Power Stones for Abyssal Maze transition well into Chaos Dungeon. This means you will either have to build a second set of armor pieces or constantly be switching Power Stones around as you move between Abyssal Maze and Chaos Dungeon. The good thing is you should be able to setup your ring or weapon to be able to reuse one of them with your Abyssal Maze set.

There are a few different options for Power Stone setups involving Fire and Azure sets but just building the standard set should be enough to get you through. I only ever use my first set built for Chaos. The gems are just higher levels now. In your armor you will want two Yellow Power Stones for movement speed, one to two Green Stones for additional health, and fill the rest of the slots with Purple for the additional experience. All of this additional experience will help you level up quickly while playing Chaos Dungeon and allow you to get enough damage and health to begin killing the boss early. Remember, your damage and health will scale by 10% with every level so the more experience you can get the better.

In your offensive gear you will want two Pearls for additional damage, two Blue for tentacles, one Purple for Life Leech, and one Green for Poison. There are other variations of sets out there but I found this one the easiest to build and the most effective. Some people like to use two Blues instead of two Pearls but I found it easier to build this two Pearl version because all of my Blue Power Stones are tied up in Damage Reduction armor pieces for other modes.
