Pets

Pets can be unlocked and selected to accompany you as you play the game. As time goes on there will most likely be some changes to this feature but this guide will walk you through how the pet feature works. I'll do my best to keep this guide up to date with any changes that are made to the pet system!

Overview

Pets are typically unlocked via the season rewards. If you purchase the Season Pass you will get the pet at level 1 of the season rewards. If you do not purchase the Season Pass you will have to reach level 50 to get your new pet. This isn't as big a deal as with Hunters because you will be able to unlock "Pet Points" as soon as the season begins; even if you haven't unlocked the pet yet. With Hunters it was a bigger deal as you couldn't start collecting the Hunter pieces until you had that Hunter unlocked. During a season you will get Pet Points from opening chests and these will be used to level your pet up. Pet Points come in different types depending on the pet that is active that season. For example, if the pet to unlock is a Dragon, you will collect Dragon Pet Points which are used to level up a Dragon pet. Once you get enough Pet Points to level your pet to max level you can no longer collect more Pet Points. This will prevent you from getting enough Pet Points to be able to level up a future pet as soon as it is unlocked. To view pets they will be found under the "Gear" section of the game. There currently six Pet Families; they are Dragon, Canine, Feline, Rodent, Insect, and Bird.

Pets give your Hunter a passive buff as you level them up with the Pet Points and unlock Talents. These buffs will always be active regardless of which pet you have equipped. This means you can choose whichever pet you want and not have to worry about picking and choosing the proper pet for the right scenario. All of the pet buffs will always be active. If you do miss any of the pets or skins that are part of a season you can get them later. Six months after the season ends the pets and skins will be added to chests so you will be able to unlock them then.

Pet Points and Leveling Up

As I mentioned previously you will be able to get Pet Points from chests. Similar to leveling Hunters you will need to collect enough Pet Points and pay a gold fee to level up your pet. Below is a table that shows the cost for each pet level.

Pet Talents

Clicking on the "Talents" button on the pet page will take you to the Talent Trees for each pet family. These will be expanded over time but you can view the current talent trees for each family that have been developed. Each time you level up a pet you will receive one talent point for the corresponding family. For example, if you level up a Dragon pet, you'll gain a talent point which can be used to increase Dragon talents only. As mentioned previously, all of the passive buffs from each Pet Family will be active no longer which pet you currently have selected. I will dive into each Pet Family's talent tree on their own respective pages.

Pet Attacks and Auras

It is also possible to add pets to your gear loadouts that will provide you additional bonuses depending on the pet family. These pets will have a damage value that is a percentage of your current Hunter damage. For example, looking at the image below a level 9 Dragon will do 108% of your current Hunter damage as it attacks. They also have a special attack, the Dragon's is "Burn", and if you get them to level 10 you unlock an aura that you can see in game that gives additional benefits. Each pet family has different damage values, attack speed, Attack, and Auras. These will be discussed on each pet family's page.

Pet Stances

There is a button that displays on screen to allow you to swap the pet stance from passive to aggressive. If the stance is passive the pet will not attack enemies; if the stance is set to aggressive it will attack enemies. Even if a pet is attacking they will not affect the damage dealt from damage ticks of statuses applied to bosses but they can still contribute to increasing the number of stacks for these statuses. It is possible to disable this button by in the game settings.

Feeding

Each pet can be fed up to three times a day which grants temporary bonuses. The first feed is free and lasts for 12 hours, the second feed costs 150 gold or you can watch an ad which adds an additional 6 hours to the time the pet is full, while the third feed will cost 50 gems and add another additional 6 hours to the time the pet is full. When your pet is full all of the talents in the Pet's Family talent tree will increase by two ranks. Also, each Pet has an affection bar. This affection bar is only increased by the second and third feedings in the day. If you increase this affection to 100 the talents in the Pet Family's corresponding tree gain 2 ranks and have their rank limit increased by 2 as well. This used to be called Loyalty as you can see in the below images but has been updated to Affection.
